The Wannabe kids finally get a day off of work, only to run into Scatlata. What a team!!

I don't really know how this goes, but the dragboats were scheduled for the BayFair in San Diego.
The drag portion was canceled, and the teams scrambled last minute for this race in the Phoenix murky waters.
The drag boats were in full force, as well as the cracker boxes, which put on another great show.

It really took some time to brush off the rust and actually get some good photos.
We only had enough film for each of us to take 48 photos, and I think three exposures were already opened on one roll,
so care was of the utmost importance. We had no room for error.
Only the home run photos with the very best of boats, action and people. Don't waste film!

Any time the colors matched up, you had to take a squeeze.
Here the 1000 foot markers were nice and blue, where the orange markers showed where 1320 sat.

Some of our film had been semi-exposed, so the image remained, and only the color faded away. (Good luck for us, huh?)

I am getting tired of telling people how to run their boats, but this is a little too much fin at the 1320 for a TAF!
This ain't the pro gas days. Bring it down a little on the next pass, will ya?

Two of the best races of Saturday was the 550 and the 66 duking it out. Here, in the second to final turn of Saturday night,
The 550 gets a little washed in the turn and dies just out of the turn after putting in a valiant effort.

This dude hung friggin' fin all weekend. Not a top alcohol, so we allow it,
But what are we going to say? The dude pulled off the win for the whole weekend!
And if you think this is a bounce shot, let me know. I will send you every shot of this sequence. It stays THIS HIGH!!

I told you that we are really rusty. Some of the boats went blurry, because we couldn't keep the cameras still.

I try to tell these guys to keep the thing above water, but they just don't listen.
However, this pass was saved for one of the best qualifying passes of the entire weekend. I guess someone knows more than me. :(

Hey Corrine, found out how to fill your swimming pool. It would only take 3.6 seconds.

It is true, we were playing with microphones to hear what some of the divers were saying during the race.

I clearly, well - I kinda - Um , well I thought I heard something like this;
"I am going to tell you ONE more time!" and the passenger said something like;
"You drive me like that again, and I am going to Donkey Punch you."
At least that is what I THOUGHT I heard.

Now, I may have been wrong on that last one, but I am CERTAIN that I heard this guy say something like;
"Hey! Mash that throttle, dude. Get me as far away from this death water as I can get."
"I am starting to itch and burn like, well, do you remember that one trip to Tijuana?"

Make sure you check this out. This dude is licensed to drive this at lakes and rivers in AZ.
So, if some guy has a simple, one color, blue "bass and ski" boat that wants to race for pink slips, you may want to think again.

And that is when all hell broke loose.
Tony grabbed the camera and went off mumbling something about man love and anyone could take photos like this.
We agreed with the photo part of the equation, but we leave the other one up to him and his "buddies."

Tony??!! WTH dude? You know you get arrested for stuff like this.
You can't be taking photos like this, man. You just can't.

Um, Tony? Can I show you where the focus knob is??

Whul, I guess we can call that a little better. Um - maybe in photo quality. Not certain about the content. . .

Hey, that is actually a respectable shot. Maybe you haven't ruined my life by taking all of my film.
Although I am probably going to be locked away for the shots of 12 year old girls.
Enough play time. Gimmee the camera back.

I am not a real fan of jets. But this boat friggin hauled the mail. And in unique fashion.

Is there really any way that I didn't own this engine at some point in my life??

Certain boats run better in downhill grades. I always tell the drivers to use lower gears with downhill grades, but they never listen.

We tried hard to capture the essence of this boat, but it just didn't photograph well. Maybe next time.

This looks like RCL's belt after an all you can eat, Nacho Blowout!! Ba-toink!

I hate to do this to you Freddie, but I am seeing the same thing again, and I am not sure it is right.
Look at the angle of these blades. Same style and pitch of hat.

I am not sure you are getting enough travel out of yours to open the barrel valve to full flow.
Ya may want to look into this one. I know you like to stop them a bit short, but my photos are showing they are really short.

Another camera and another angle and you are still trying to fly it through the 1320 lights. Scary stuff.

Well, till next time, kids.
